Biodiversity project case study

Kyle Chemotherapy Unit, NHS Ailsa Hospital

This project, commisioned and funded by HP inc, tasked us with creating a restorative, pollinator friendly garden for a chemotherapy unit in Ayr. It provides patients, visitors and staff with a calming green space that supports wellbeing while carefully managing the heightened sensitivities associated with immunocompromised users.

Designed around heightened sensitivities.

The design provides a welcoming connection to nature while carefully considering immunocompromised users, allergies, infection control, accessibility and sensory sensitivities.

A restorative setting

Space to pause, relax and find calm.

Quiet seating, sheltered areas and clear, accessible routes create a safe and restorative environment where patients, visitors and staff can pause, relax and find moments of comfort and calm.
